Listening to survivors means understanding that the goal isn’t always safety. But too often, that’s what is assumed. How Do Survivors Define Success? was the first project to rigorously document how survivors define success. Invited by Blue Shield of California, FFI’s work to center survivor wellbeing in domestic violence response reshaped domestic violence response at federal, state, and local levels, influencing policymakers and providers to redirect $420M+ in funding, implement new policies, and fundamentally shift practices to prioritize survivor wellbeing nationwide.
Read the case study from FFI's work with the Wellbeing Learning Collaborative – a statewide effort exploring shifts in policy, practice and culture to strengthen systems' response to domestic violence.
Learn about how organizations design programs and initiatives with wellbeing at the center, how they work past barriers, and what this approach has unlocked for themselves and their communities.
This toolkit provides guidance for the philanthropic community and other stakeholders interested in supporting long-term, sustainable change for people living at the intersection of poverty, violence, trauma and oppression.
