Pushing Beyond Safety to Better Serve Survivors

How can systems change in order to better serve people experiencing sexual and domestic violence? How can organizations engage survivor leadership in a way that centers the skills of participants instead of tokenizing them? How can providers focus on more than just safety and crisis response to support the full experience of survivors?

These are a few of the questions that the Wellbeing Learning Collaborative is grappling with. A partnership between the Full Frame Initiative, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and a small group of sexual and domestic violence providers, the Wellbeing Learning Collaborative is helping practitioners to plan beyond safety and consider wellbeing when working with survivors.

Tools and Resources for Providers and Caseworkers

Co-learning is a key value of the Wellbeing Learning Collaborative, where members share their knowledge and test tools and resources to shift thinking and practice. We’re excited to share some of the resources that have come out of the Wellbeing Learning Collaborative discussions and piloting to help providers center wellbeing when working with survivors.

Children, Youth and Adult Workbooks

These workbooks are a great tool for any frontline worker who supports clients, patients or program participants. The workbooks help people identify how they’re meeting their needs for wellbeing, what’s working, and what’s getting in the way so that frontline staff can better understand their full experience.

FULL FRAME INITIATIVE

The system is rigged, and the solution isn’t just to create more programs for people harmed by these unfair systems. The solution is to reimagine these systems to make our country fairer and more equitable for everyone — which means ensuring that the places where we work, live, play and pray tap into people’s drive for wellbeing, instead of undermining wellbeing for some and enabling it for others.

That’s what we do.
